The political crisis that resulted in the resignation of former minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici interrupted constructive discussions between government and the fireworks organisations.

In an interview with Sunday newspaper Illum, general practitioner and president of the fireworks organisation Godfrey Farrugia, expressed his disappointment for the halting of the discussions, mostly because the discussions were being held with Mifsud Bonnici among other individuals.

Criticising the Church over its position on the organisation of parish feasts, Farrugia said that while the Church wanted to dictate all measures and preparations, at the same time it refused to shoulder any responsibilities.

By way of example, Farrugia said that organisers had many expenses to cover, including insurance.
