Police rents SAG cars to escort EU commissioners
Police rent six cars to provide security to two European Commissioners who were in Malta this week, instead of making use of the newly acquired cars, Illum reports.
Sunday newspaper Illum reports that instead of making use of the 12 new cars that were bought specifically to be used by the SAG, the Police rented out six cars to provide security for two important delegations of the European Commission who were in Malta over the last few days.
According to the newspaper, the cars were rented out from the same company that until a few months ago used to provide cars to members of the judiciary.
The new fleet of cars were unveiled last month after a total of €1.22 million were invested in the purchasing of the vehicles.
Apart from the 12 white Ford Focus saloon cars, the investment included 22 Ford Focus that replaced the existing mobile squad cars and other vehicles.
