67 per cent pass rate in final Junior Lyceum exams

2008 students out of 2990 who sat for the final Junior Lyceum exam passed in all subjects constituting a 67.2 per cent success rate, the Ministry of Education said in a statement.

The ministry said that 1596 boys and 1394 girls sat for the exam with 1007 boys (67.5 per cent) and 931 girls (66.8 per cent) obtaining successful pass marks in all four subjects.

60 boys and 87 girls obtained A Grades in the four exams, namely Maltese, English Maths and Religion. The Social Studies examination has been discontinued. This was the final time that Junior Lyceum exams were held since their introduction in 1982 with next year’s exam taking the form of a benchmark system.

Education minister Dolores Cristina congratulated all those who passed and augured success to those who will be taking resits later on this year.
