Four minors were admitted to Mater Dei because they suffered sexual abuse
Health Minister Joe Cassar told parliament this evening that four minors were admitted to Mater Dei Hospital after suffering sexual abuse. The cases took place during the first six months of this year.
Cassar said that the victims were all girls, aged 14 and younger.
The health minister also said that such cases are usually treated as "suspect case of abuse" and a final conclusion is only reached after social workers and other professionals would have investigated the case.
He also said that in the majority of investigations related to allegations of sexual abuse, the case is usually investigated within the community without the need for the victim to be hospitalised for medical care.

So if, and when, these cases of sexual abuse are proven and the perpetrators are brought to justice and convicted what protection can these children,or their parents(that is if one of them is not one of the guilty party),expect if there is no facility for these violators to be automatically placed on a not- fit-for-purpose "offenders register" to make us aware of their evil deeds?Name and address should be suppled on such a register and ,in any event, how can a such a register be accessed and where is this information provided to the public?
