Attempted murder charge 'dropped' for Cikku Fenech

Fenech to be charged with firing a weapon near an inhabitated area

A meeting reportedly held this morning between Attorney General Silvio Camilleri and defense lawyer Joe Mifsud has led to charges of attempted murder to be dropped in a trial by jury of Cikku Fenech from Mosta.

70 year-old Cikku Fenech was to stand trial this morning for the attempted murder of John Pace from Birkirkara seven years ago, after a number of shots were fired from shotguns allegedly handled by both men after a heated argument over the ownership of a field.

Having dropped the charge of attempted murder, the Attorney General has this morning presented an amended bill of indictment against Cikku Fenech who will now stand charged with firing a weapon near an inhabited area.
