Sicilian police seize cash, cars from passengers on arrival from Malta

Sicilian border police tighten controls at arrivals from Malta via catamaran, as Libyan national caught with €15,000 in undeclared cash, and two others have cars seized.

A Libyan national has had €15,000 confiscated by border police at Pozzallo's harbour yesterday. The man was said to have not declared the money according to European Union laws.

Meanwhile, two other Libyan nationals were held for five hours, and had their cars seized by Police at Pozzallo harbour, after it was found that they were not covered by insurance.

A spokesman for the Italian border police in Pozzallo said that controls at the harbour have increased, wmain vigilant over what is being imported and exported by air, land and sea.
