Ivorian arrested with stash of marijuana before boarding catamaran for Malta

An Ivorian man was arrested this morning in Pozzallo, Sicily after he was found to be in possession of 700 grammes of marijuana before boarding catamaran for Malta.

Almost a kilogramme of marijuana, packed in 27 capsules and hidden inside a ruck-sack were seized early this morning by the Guardia di Finanza in Pozzallo harbour.

The drug was found during a search on an Ivorian passenger who was bound for Malta on board the Virtu catamaran.

The Ivorian - identified only as K.M.K - reportedly resides in Rome, and investigations are underway as to who may be his contacts in Malta.

Magistrate Umberto Scollo from the Modica Courts, has ordered the Ivorian's arrest and contacts are reportedly underway with Maltese police.
