Police officer injured after jumping off balcony
A police officer is injured after jumping off a balcony to avoid being stabbed by a man in Zabbar.
A police officer was injured this morning when he jumped a height of one storey after being chased by a man wielding five knives.
The police were asked to intervene when it received reports that a 57-year-old man was acting strangely in Triq il-Maghsar, Zabbar.
The incident took place at around 10am this morning.
Upon arriving on site, police officers realised the man was carrying two knives, and requested further assistance.
The man kept acting aggressively, and refused to leave his house. One of the policeman tried to enter his house through an adjacent balcony, and the man attacked again, this time with five knives.
The officers used a taser gun to control the man but a police officer was forced to jump off a one-storey high balcony to avoid being stabbed.
Both the assaulter and the police officer are undergoing treatment for their injuries.
An inquiry is underway.
