Labour MP Silvio Parnis will launch his electoral campaign during a self-styled summer festival in Paola this Friday.

Labour leader Joseph Muscat is expected to attend and address the 'Parnis Summer Family Fest,' in which a mishmash of 'local talent' will be on display.

In advertising the event, Parnis boasts that a number of prizes worth €8,000 can be won. Prizes include a mattress, a bedroom and €1,000 worth of tiles.

The MP is not new to controversy. Recently Parnis had declared on television that Labour leader Joseph Muscat would appoint him as minister for the south once in Government, a claim later denied by the Labour Party.
