Jailed over theft of nine cars

Renald Barbara, 31 of Rabat, has been jailed for nine months after admitting to the theft of nine cars.

Magistrate Tonio Micallef Trigona this morning jailed Renald Barbara, 31 of Rabat to nine months imprisonment, who pleaded guilty to the theft of nine cars from various localities.

Barbara was charged of having stolen a Skoda Favorit from Pietà on August 8, a Seat Ibiza from Paola on August 8, a Fiat Bravo from Qormi on August 21, a Peugeot 106 from Senglea on August 22, and a Seat Terra, another Skoda Favorit and Piaggio vanover the past two months.

Assisted by legal aid lawyer Patrick Valentino, the accused pleaded guilty to all charges and was immediately escorted to Corradino Prisons.

Inspectors Tony Cachia and Darren Buhagiar prosecuted.
