AFM escorts 86 migrants to shore
74 males and 12 females, of which four claim to be pregnant, were located by the Armed Forces of Malta south west of the island.
At around 11am today, an AFM Islander Aircraft that was on patrol, sighted a dinghy carrying irregular migrants some 14 NM South West of Malta.
The AFM Operation centre immediately diverted the Inshore Patrol Vessel (P 21) to the area. The patrol boat located the dinghy and it was established that it was going adrift without the ability to maneuver.
It was therefore decided to take the migrants onboard.
The total number of migrants on the dinghy totaled 86, of which 74 were males and 12 females. According to the AFM, four of the women claimed to be pregnant.
The patrol boat P-21 carrying the migrants arrived at Haywharf Base at 3:45pm.
Over the past two weeks, 240 migrants have been rescued by the AFM.

Dr Gonzi has given a public guarantee that all illegal immigrants that are in distress or feigning distress or that have put themselves deliberately in distress will be picked up and brought to Malta. So they keep coming. How many already this year?
