PN pushes minimum wage ‘freeze’ claims
The Nationalist Party insists Labour will “freeze” the minimum wage and says a Joseph Muscat-led government will have “no social conscience.”
The Nationalist Party persisted with its claims that Labour will "freeze" the minimum wage and accused Labour leader Joseph Muscat of being "confused."
The PN's claims come following Muscat's claims during the Labour Party national congress last week that a Labour government will not increase the minimum wage.
Earlier today the PL leader insisted that his political position not to increase the minimum wage is a responsible one for the economy. Muscat added that the party's first priority will be to put the country's economy on a sound footing by achieving growth.
In a statement issued today, the PN said "He [Muscat] first proposed a Living Wage which he later abondoned and he has now decided to freeze the minimum wage once he is in power. Now that it evident that his incompetence will create a financial hole for which the workers will pay, Muscat is in panic-mode and is confused."
The PN spokesperson Frank Psaila said "You really do not know where you stand with Muscat and the MLP (sic). Families and workers will bear the brunt of a messy Labour government."
"This is not the change you want. Labour won't work. The minimum wage will be frozen and the weakest will suffer most. A Muscat-led government will have no social conscience," the statement added.
