Digital gaming company reaches 100-job target in less than a year
TRC Family Entertainment reaches its target set for two years to create 100 jobs in less than a year of operations.
TRC Family Entertainment, a digital gaming company developing a fully fledged digital game to be launched in the American market, created 100 jobs in less than a year of operations.
During a visit to the company, Finance Minister Tonio Fenech said TRC reached the target it had set for its first two years of operations.
Fenech said the impressive figure vindicated the government’s strategy to invest in digital gaming, a sector which has significant opportunities since it is experiencing world-wide growth.
“These jobs reflect Government’s proactive approach at creating new and better jobs. Over the past four years, not only 20,000 new jobs were created but the average salary increased by over €2,000,” Fenech said.
The Digital Games industry is considered as a key component within the creative industry in Malta which is one of the fastest growing media sectors globally.
Fenech explained described the government’s efforts at building the digital gaming sector into a sustainable economic activity in Malta, in line with the government strategy of diversifying the Maltese economy towards more high value added industries which can generate a higher rate of economic return per capita.
“These efforts have been noted by credit rating agency Fitch, through its report published last week confirming Malta at A , where it welcomed Malta’s efforts at diversifying its economy towards export-oriented services,” Fenech said.
