President's Office 'absorbs' TV production company

MaltaToday has revealed how a TV production company belonging to the president’s press secretary has been ‘absorbed’ into the Office of the President

MaltaToday yesterday reported how a TV production company belonging to Marica Mizzi – the press secretary of President George Abela – was saved from financial ruin by being ‘absorbed’ into the Office of the President, with its directors now in the formal employ of the Malta Community Chest Fund.

Image 2000 is the company that produced TV series ‘Santa Monika’ and ‘Fenomeni’.

But now it has become the Audio Visual Department of the Office of the President, with its directors Fabian Mizzi and Noel Pace salaried by the Malta Community Chest Fund – a charity fund run by the same Office.

Even the company’s audiovisual equipment was transferred to what is now San Anton Palace’s ‘audio visual department’.

The Palace has denied buying the equipment but MaltaToday reports that the finance ministry has ‘advised’ the Office of the President to be cautious on its expenditure and administrative procedures.

Were there any calls for the post offered to the Directors of Image 2000? I would have expected more transparency from the President.
