Labour government to guarantee decent work

Labour deputy leader Anglu Farrugia says a new Labour government will guarantee decent jobs for all workers.

On the occasion of the world day for decent work, the Labour Party has urged the government to secure the right for a decent job for all workers.

Deputy leader Anglu Farrugia said it is "shameful" that in recent years workers have been engaged abusively, on low wages and dire conditions.

Farrugia noted that Labour has consistently maintained that such practices must be banished and also pointed out that government itself was guilty of such abusive employment.

"A Labour government is committed to protect the workers' rights and guarantee that all workers enjoy a decent job and a a better quality of life," Farrugia said.

It is about time that the blatant abuse of workers (including those engaged in precarious work) is checked. Worker rights have been systematically eroded under success Nationalist governments. It will take a new Labour Government to stop the rot and give back workers their due.
