€3.8 million works at Karin Grech Hospital over four years
Over four years, government invested over €1 million in maintenance and over €2.7 million in refurbishment works at Karin Grech Hospital.
A total of €3,789,8202 were spent in refurbishment and maintenance work at Karin Grech Hospital over the past four years.
Replying to a parliamentary question raised by Labour MP Anglu Farrugia, Health Minister Joe Cassar said that government spent €1,009,988 over maintenance works and €2,788,214 in refurbishment works. €400,000 of this were still pending as works were finished in the past weeks.
In a separate question raised by Labour MP Michael Farrugia, Cassar said that for the last three years, the Foundation for Medical Services took over the design plans for infrastructural changes at Karin Grech Hospital.
"No third parties were engaged to carry out this job or other infrastructural changes since 2009. In August 2007 an architect was outsourced to carry out design plans and provide consultancy. But this was terminated in 2009," Cassar said.
