Alfred Sant's nephew to replace uncle on party ticket
Former Labour Leader Alfred Sant’s nephew, Marc Sant, being touted as uncle’s potential replacement in 8th District.
Weekly newspaper Illum reports that economic Marc Sant is being pushed to occupy the vacuum left by his uncle Alfred Sant and contest the general election in the 8th district on the Labour ticket.
The news comes in the wake of Alfred Sant's announcement earlier this week that he aims to contest the MEP elections.
Illum reports that Marc Sant is being seen as somewhat of a favourite to contest the 8th district.
Lawyer by profession, Sant is being perceived as a natural replacement for his uncle, and who already enjoys a certain good standing among the party's delegates for the district.
Illum reports that Sant is also already politically active within the PL on several levels, further cementing his viability as an electoral candidate.
Illum also reveals that several individuals close to the younger Sant confirm that he has been pressured to contest.
