Local council’s objections to circus were ignored
Paola local council says it twice objected to circus, but event will still be held outside Addolorata cemetery.
The Paola local council said its refusal for an animal circus to be held in the parking area of the Addolorata cemetery was twice ignored.
The council said the circus was set up earlier in the day, after it had refused an application for the circus to be sited in the car park. Another application was received and subsequently refused.
"Although the council refused it twice, this circus has still set up its tent in the car park. This car park is not adequate for an animal circus, due to the numerous amount of people that visit the nearby cemetery on a daily basis. The circus creates an inconvenience to these people, and we are concerned about the dangers from the presence of wild animals," the council said.
The council has asked the central authorities to intervene and relocate the circus.
