AFM perform medical evacuation of Filipino sailor
Filipino sailor transferred to Mater Dei Hospital after falling ill on board a ship, some 40 nautical miles off Malta.

This morning the Operations Centre of the Armed Forces of Malta was involved in the coordination and rescue of a Filipino sailor. The master of a Singapore registered vessel, 'Maersk Hirado', contacted the AFM's operation centre to request the medical evacuation of one of his sailors.
An Italian Air force helicopter carrying an Italo-Maltese crew was scrambled to the area to render assistance. At the time, the vessel was some 40 nautical miles off Malta.
The patient was airlifted onboard the AB212 Helicopter and was subsequently transferred to Mater Dei Hospital for further medical examination.
