Young Dutch reveller critical

The woman, reportedly of Dutch nationality was celebrating with other friends her home country's football team's success that tonight eliminated Brazil gaining qualification to the World Cup semi-final.

She was hit by a car when crossing the road opposite the Surfside on Tower Road.

Police had to intervene to avoid tensions that ensued when passers-by and friends of the Dutch girl almost assaulted the driver, who was accused of driving recklessly.

An ambulance took the girl to hospital, while on-site investigations were initiated by the police.
