It was a relatively responsible Christmas for the majority of respondents to a MaltaToday online poll.

A solid majority to a MaltaToday online poll reported to have been more careful of how to spend their money during the Christmas period. Budgets were planned for gift buying and expenses that are automatically brought about by the festive season.

Attending parties, hosting dinners and eating out have all become the norm of spending the last weeks of December and welcoming the new year. Because, whether one is a fan of Christmas or not, it still is an opportunity to have a good laugh with the old company.

1,190 (53%) of the 2,210 respondents who took part in the poll said they were more careful in how they spent their money, opting to budget on gifts and holiday expenses.

On the other hand, 587 (27%) reported having spent the same amount as last year.

Still, a relatively small but significant group of 433 (205) admitted to having spent more in gifts and other celebrations.

Maltatoday should be applauded for the way it conducts polls and surveys insomuch,as firstly there are always a reasonable and accountable number of respondents(not the measely 500 of the NSO or Euro-barometer surveys-as these entities only ever provide misleading percentages and thereby conclude that these disproportionate %'s-never any actual numbers signifying what % this represents-are the views and opinions of the entire Maltese population)and that the percentages provided for conclusions /findings by Maltatoday are always supplemented(backed-up)by actual figures (numbers)-thereby giving a more accurate and pro-rata take on the survey/poll subject matter ,with Maltatoday being the only known survey/poll-taker to provide such transparent and proper percentages of a decent respondent total combined with actual numbers.Prosit.
