Malta Dockers Union opposes fragmentation of union representation at Tug Malta

The Malta Dockers Union (MDU) has formally requested Tug Malta to withdraw the union's recognition from all categories of workers the Union represented at the company.

This request follows the Industrial Tribunal's decision in October which accepted the General Workers Union request to be recognised as the main union at Tug Malta in the negotiations for a new collective agreement.

MDU said its request is consistent with its principles which always opposed fragmentation of union representation and reminded the negative consequences suffered by workers of Seam Malta following the fragmentation of union representation.
