Government issues condemnation of North Korea nuclear test
Maltese government urges DPRK to abandon its nuclear weapons programme.
The Government of Malta has issued a condemnation the nuclear test carried out by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
In a statement, the government said it condemned the latest in a "regrettable string of provocative actions that have served to increase regional tensions."
"The DPRK's nuclear test is a clear violation of its international obligations, in particular United Nations Security Council Resolutions 1718, 1874, and 2087, which was adopted unanimously last month," the government said.
The Maltese government said it urged the DPRK to abandon its nuclear weapons programme, to cease all nuclear testing and to immediately re-engage in a dialogue with the international community, including within the framework of the Six Party Talks.
