Ann Fenech to announce any interest in PN leadership tomorrow
Anne Fenech ‘dumbstruck’ by endorsement for her to join PN leadership, says she will express intention tomorrow.
Lawyer Ann Fenech, who is being touted as a potential Nationalist Party leader or deputy leader, took to Facebook on Thursday evening to respond directly to a Facebook group which is calling on her to take a more active role within the party leadership.
Since being created over the past couple of days, the group has gone on to attract over 2,000 likes, reflecting a growing desire for Fenech to join the PN ranks and play an active part in the party's leadership.
Indeed, her name is being touted alongside those of Mario de Marco, Chris Said, Beppe Fenech Adami, and Simon Busuttil, as a potential option for the next PN leadership line-up, which will be elected sometime within the next three months.
In what is described as "official correspondence" by the page's administrator, Fenech said that she was "overwhelmed firstly by the very fact that you have created this Facebook page inviting me to take a more active role in the Nationalist Party."
She goes on to say that she is "dumbstruck" by the endoresement.
"It is a huge compliment and I cannot quite figure out what I could have possibly done to attract and deserve this level of encouragement and support," she adds.
"To say it has taken me totally by surprise is an understatement. I will be expressing my intentions tomorrow," she concludes.
While so far there have been no open admissions of interest in the role of party leader, several leading PN exponents have been eyeing the post with interest, among them Mario de Marco, Simon Busuttil, and Beppe Fenech Adami.
Ann Fenech was an electoral commissioner for the PN during the deputy party leadership in December, but she took centre-stage as PBS's guest during the elections when the PN was trounced in the 2013 polls.
