[WATCH] US ambassador delivers election congratulatory message in Maltese

Most probably a first by a foreign ambassador to Malta, US ambassador Gina Abercombie-Winstanley delivered her congratulatory message to Malta over the elections in Maltese.

In her video message, [CLICK HERE] while lauding the democratic process, the amiable ambassador said she enjoyed watching electoral campaigns which were "noisy but colourful and vibrant".

She said that the high turnout and the peaceful transition to a new administration showed the active involvement of Maltese and Gozitans in politics.

"It also shows that different opinions and allegiances to different political parties are respected," she said.

The ambassador said she was looking forward to work with both the government and the opposition to strengthen the bilateral relations between Malta and the US.

Abercombie-Winstanley today also met Foreign Affairs Minister George Vella in a meeting that lasted an hour.
