GWU in industrial dispute with Arriva

General Workers Union registers industrial dispute with public transport operator Arriva over public holiday payments.

The General Workers Union (GWU) has registered an industrial dispute with public transport operator Arriva after the transport company announced changes in the wage structure for its employees on public holidays.

In its statement, the union issued a stark warning saying that it would take industrial action unless the payment agreement reverts to what it was before the 19 March public holiday.

The union added that Arriva informed the union's transport section that the changes were based on the Works Regulation Order for public transport.

"The union insists that the company's decision is wrong," the GWU said, adding that following the intervention of the Director of Industrial Relations, Noel Vella a meeting between all parties has been set for next Wednesday.
