Operational issues at Marsascala family park to be addressed – Leo Brincat
Environment minister Leo Brincat says operational issues at newly inaugurated Marsascala family park to be addressed immediately.
The family park inaugurated by former Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, a few days before the 9 March election in Marsascala is blighted by operational issues which need to be addressed, environment minister Leo Brincat said.
Speaking during a visit at the National Park in Ta Qali, Brincat said that his ministry has embarked on a consultation process with local councils in connection with the management of parks and afforestation projects.
He pointed out that while the new Labour government would maintain and build upon the positive initiatives undertaken by the previous government, "other things need tweaking and changes will occur."
Brincat pointed out that the operational issued which emerged at the new family park in Marsascala would be addressed seriously and added that the projects which will be initiated in the next three years would be done "in a most professional manner."
The minister stressed the need to strengthen the management structures of parks and afforestation projects "to maximise their use to the benefit of the people."
Workers will be motivated by changes in deployment which should be more effective and efficient, Brincat said. He added that an ad hoc consultative committee had been set up to draft a new strategy in afforestation.
