Woman charged with stealing thousands of euros in jewellery from mother

A drug-ridden woman from St. Paul’s Bay was this morning remanded in custody after being charged with theft from her mother’s house.

Charmaine Camilleri, 39, was arrested just a week after being released from prison.

Investigations by police into a report filed by the woman’s mother about a theft of thousands of euros in jewellery led to a search in an apartment where Camilleri was living , yielded some of the stolen items and drug related material.

As the woman registered a ‘not guilty’ plea, the courts ordered she be sent back to prison to be kept under preventative custody.
