Konrad Mizzi | ‘Wilfred Borg will be given ample space to defend himself’
Minister Konrad Mizzi speaks to Illum about handling of ARMS CEO Wilfred Borg, Labour’s approach to new gas plant project, and how Malta will meet renewable energy deadlines
In an interview that will be published in tomorrow's Sunday issue of the Illum, Energy and Water Resources Minister Konrad Mizzi discusses the handling of ARMS Ltd CEO Wilfred Borg, who was suspended following his refusal to resign.
Borg found himself in the limelight after an ARMS Ltd billing error led to 3,000 of 3,800 recently-issued energy vouchers being issued in error.
Mizzi says that despite the criticism that is being levelled at him by the Nationalist Opposition regarding how Borg was handled, he is insisting that Borg has not been fired yet - merely suspended - and that he will be given all the space he needs to give his version of events.
In the interview, Mizzi also deals with Labour's shift from advocating a land-based LNG terminal, to publishing an expression of interest that is open to proposals of both land-based and water-based projects.
Mizzi also responds to concerns that the Labour Government is reluctant to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment on the project, and discusses the Labour's Government's plans for the renewable energy sector, its focus on solar energy, and Malta's water priorities.
