Outgoing PN secretary-general Paul Borg Olivier insists the whole PN administration - responsible for the historic 9 March electoral defeat - should make way for new faces. This is perhaps a veiled message which suggests that Busuttil should also considering retreating.
"The PN administration went through a complete overhaul in 2008 when the party was in government, let alone now after suffering such a defeat," Borg Olivier says in a frank interview.
While underlining the need for a sweeping change of all members of the PN administration, Borg Olivier - who, together with Lawrence Gonzi, shouldered the responsibility by declining to re-contest his post - stressed that the party is not backing current deputy leader Simon Busuttil, as this would result in an unfair contest.
In a candid dissection of the electoral result, Borg Olivier explained that the result was down to the internal dissent which alienated the party from understanding the people's needs and aspirations.

Yes, Simon Busuttil must back out also. He was part of the administratiuon and also wrote the electoral programme. We need new faces so all the old administration must resign and give a chance to new faces. If we don't we're going to stay for many years in opposition.

This is indeed contradictory - the internal dissent developed due to individuals within the party telling the party they are not listening to the people!
With all due respect - How could you be alienated from listening to the people due to your own people telling you that you're not listening to the people???

just because your surname is borg olivier does not make you who you are, you and Gonzi are a big disgrace to the whole nationalist party and the people that had trust in them. You and the rest of the party should have known how many people were suffereing before the elections but you and the rest of the party decided to make it sound as though Malta was the only country out of a ressesion in the whole of Europe.So Paul what next? will you be cleaning the streets of Valletta ? as now the most common surname in Malta rules the country and why not good luck to him and off with you to the gallows....good ridence!!
