New members appointed to Local Examinations Board

Education Minister Evarist Bartolo today met with the new members of the Local Examinations Board, chaired by Anthony DeGiovanni.

After accepting the resignation of the outgoing chairman and members, Bartolo announced the new board members are Renee Laiviera, Joseph Xerri and Albert Farrugia. Rebecca Maria Gatt has been appointed board secretary.

Bartolo said the board should be transparent and should always work fairly and correctly. In wake of the police investigation into an alleged scam to alter exam results for, Bartolo said the integrity of the board hinged on the integrity of its members.

He also announced the board form part of the process to set up an Examinations Agency.
