Salaries of Enemalta, WSC boards still being hashed out

Despite the official announcement of the new posts made almost a week ago, the financial packages of the new Enemalta and Water Services Corporation boards are still being hashed out, MaltaToday has learnt.
On Monday, Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi announced that former PL deputy leader for party affairs was chosen to occupy the role of Enemalta chairman.
Mangion, a notary by profession, had been touted for the job days after the Labour Party was elected to government.
Joe Ellul Vincenti, a former Enemalta chairman under the Eddie Fenech Adami administration, is the new deputy chairman. During the 2013 election campaign, Ellul Vincenti had dismissed claims that Labour's proposed gas plant at Delimara may not be built on reclaimed land.
On the other hand, former Telemalta chairman Tony Meilaq was appointed chairman of the Water Services Corporation.
Appointed under the PN administration with a three-year contract, then Enemalta executive chairman Louis Giordimaina was given an annual basic pay of €95,242. The Labour government has now appointed Giordimaina as the corporation's CEO.
According to a parliamentary question tabled in 2010, then Enemalta CEO Karl Camilleri received an €81,550 yearly basic wage.
Giordimaina also sat on the WSC board as chairman with a gross yearly honoraria of €16,306. WSC CEO Mark Muscat received a gross yearly salary of €65,223.
The new Enemalta board members are Joe Falzon, Steve Agius, Tony Chircop, Jonathan Scerri and Lara Boffa while the WSC board members include Saviour Zammit as deputy chairman, Louis Gatt, Jimmy Magro, Nikita Zammit Alamango Kevin Decesare, John Abela, Robert Borg and Silvio Falzon.
