Bail for man, 43, in two separate assaults on Gozo police

A 43-year-old man, Raymond Abela, was arraigned in front of the Gozo Courts and accused with thirteen charges relating to two separate assaults on Police officers in two different localities in Gozo on the same day

He was accused that on 5 June 2010 at Victoria, he defamed, threatened or made an offence on various police officers; assaulting or violently resisting the  same officials; voluntarily destroying, damaging or ruining third party property, and violating good order and public quietness with shouting and fighting.

Abela was also accused that on the same day but at Marsalforn, he threw a sizeable stone at two police officers with the intention of causing them harm.

He was also charged that he defamed, threatened or made another offence towards these two police officers.

Abela was also accused of assault or making a violent assault; causing slight injuries on these two police officers as well as on another person; and voluntarily destroying, damaging or ruining third party property.

Moreover, Abela was charged with violating public order with shouts and fights, and attempted robbery.

He was also accused of being a relapser with various definitive court judgements.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges presented against him in Court. He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €5,000, among other things.
