The village of San Gwann this morning woke up to the sound of engines as a large number of bikers escorted the coffin of 21-year-old Glen Grech who last Saturday lost his life in a car accident on the Coast Road.

The bike escort left the morgue at Mater Dei Hospital and stopped at the main road of San Gwann where Glen used to work in the family business. Members from the Bike-Boyz carried the coffin on their shoulders with the club colours draped over the coffin from outside Mark's Supermarket to the church.

The Grech family, led by mother Jacqueline received the sympathy and support of Glen's friends and bike brothers as Glen's club Bike-Boyz were joined by various clubs to pay the last tribute to Glen.

Hundreds of people turned out to pay their respects, with some of those present commenting that San Gwann has never witnessed such a turnout of people, not even for the village feast in August.

Following mass, which was held in the Church of San Gwann, Glen was laid to rest at the Qrendi Cemetry.

San Gwann mourned for a day. Family and friends will mourn a life time. I appeal to the youths to think of the long life sorrow brought about by an early death, be it accident illness or otherwise. Take good care of yourselves in ALL that you do.
