Malta in 2017 EU Presidency summit
Malta’s 2017 EU Presidency discussed during meeting with Irish Ambassador.
The Parliamentary Secretary for the EU Presidency 2017, Ian Borg, will be travelling to Ireland where he will be discussing the organization of Malta's term in 2017 together with his Dutch and Slovakian counterparts, who will also hold the EU presidency during the same year.
The three countries that form the Presidency Trio, will be discussing the organisation in Ireland, the current holder of the EU Presidency.
Borg was speaking during a meeting with Irish Ambassador Jim Hennessy. The Ambassador explained that the Presidency requires the organisation of a large number of meetings attended by thousands of participants and delved into the allocated budget, the cultural activities and the logistics in hosting journalists.
Hennessy added that the Irish government undertook a number of initiatives to attract foreign investment.
The Parliamentary Secretary is currently in the process of meeting EU ambassadors to discuss Malta's Presidency in the first half on 2017.
On his part, Borg said: "This is a very important event of national importance and we will make use of all available resources."
