Power cut in 27 localities, Gozo caused by fault in Delimara power station phase 1
Electricity was restored in 45 minutes in most affected localities.
Twenty-seven localities and Gozo this morning experienced a brief power cut caused by a fault in the Delimara power station phase 1.
Enemalta explained that at around 8.26am, unit 1 at the older Delimara Power station's Phase 1 suffered a trip which caused load shedding in some parts of Malta.
The localities affected were parts of Birżebbuġia, Marsaxlokk, Swatar, Msida, B'Kara, San Ġwann, Kappara, Swieqi, Żejtun, Marsaskala, Għaxaq, Marsa, Qormi, Żebbug, Paola, Fgura, Senglea, Cospicua, St Paul's Bay, Mġarr, limits of Rabat, Mellieħa, Pembroke, St Julian's, Madliena, Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq, Sliema and Gozo.
Supply to most localities was restored in 45 minutes at around 9.15 am.
Supply to the other affected areas was restored at around 10.15am.
"The fault is currently being investigated as in these circumstances the priority is to restore supply in the shortest time possible," Enemalta said.
