Government to hold consultation on state of trees

Environment minister Leo Brincat announces consultation process on the state of trees in Malta.

Environment minister Leo Brincat announced that the government would be holding a consultation process on trees.

Highlighting the unhealthy state of tress in the islands, Brincat explained that the consultation will involve the public, local councils, NGOs, the business community and government departments.

In his first meeting with the Local Council Association, Brincat reiterated the government's electoral pledge to identify sites which can provide recreational facilities for families.

While Brincat underlined the government's will to work in tandem with local councils and the association, he said that the government's priorities were those of involving local councils in waste management and addressing the bad state of trees in Malta.

The minister urged the Local Council Association to come up with an action plan which will enable works to commence at the earliest.
