The government is planning to open a second farmers' market in the south of Malta, Environment Minister Leo Brincat said in parliament.

Replying to a parliamentary question raised by MP Censu Galea, Brincat said today there were 31 farmers selling their produce from the Farmers' Market in Ta' Qali.

"I am also informed of plans to open a second farmers' market in the south of Malta," Brincat told Galea.

During the inauguration of the Ta' Qali market in 2010, then minister George Pullicino had spoken of government's plans to open a market in the south, another in the area of Sliema and San Gwann and another one in Gozo.
