Interview by Jean Pierre Cassar
In an interview with Sunday newspaper Illum, Nationalist MP Francis Zammit Dimech speaks about his defeat in the PN leadership election and his surprise in gaining such few votes.
He speaks about what caused the massive gap of votes in the general election back in March and the errors that characterised the Gonzi administration.
Francis Zammit Dimech speaks about what he would have done differently had he been PN leader when the party's rebels took over the electoral campaign.
He also praises Gonzi's work in choosing the country over the party, which he described as a "national priority" and "the biggest acquisition" in very difficult times.
Speaking on the first 70 days of Labour government, he describes it as "lacking direction and with an unclear vision." He also warns his party to act cautiously so not to become "an arrogant political force in the country."
He talks about his personal life problems that he has now overcome and feels fully recovered. Zammit Dimech, who has been in the Maltese Parliament since 1987, ends the interview saying that he does not consider stopping his political life for now.
