Anne Fenech backed by PN leadership
New PN leadership ensured that old-guard officials are removed from top administrative posts.
The new Simon Busuttil PN leadership has made sure that party officials elected under the Lawrence Gonzi administration are not re-elected by ensuring that the top posts are uncontested.
In the case of the PN Executive Council presidency, marthese Portelli is set to be replace by lawyer Anne Fenech who enjoys vast popularity within the party ranks.
Fenech was pushed to contest by Busuttil's faction, who ensured that the lawyer entered the 5 June elections uncontested.

I do not think this was the case with the General council president, as Mr Bonnici was hardly helped by what seems to be a clan of lawyers. A good start for the famous 'open door' policy. We have to see less words and more action. Hope we have more like Mr. Bonnici as we need them

Am I missing something here? One runs for office uncontested? That is called a one horse race. Gaddafi ran that kind of race and won. Lawrence Gonzi ran that one man race and also won.Fidel Castro ran that one man race and also won. Simon Busuttil almost ran a one man race after Mario De Marco ceded and he also won. This is called a dictatorship in any other country. What is the use of having a race if there is only one participant? Are we missing something here? Ignorance is bliss.
