MCAST denies budget cuts reports
MCAST denies reports that Information, Communications and Technology Institute’s budget will be reduced.
MCAST categorically denied reports published by the Nationalist Party media today claiming that the college's Information Technology Institute's budget will be reduced.
Describing the reports as outright "wrong," the college said: "To the contrary, MCAST is allocating a bigger chunk of it's budget to increase the number of students at the Information, Communications and Technology Institute in the next scholastic year."
It added that the allegations that the time and resources allocated to the institute's students will be reduced are wrong.
"All ICT courses offered at MCAST will remain unchanged and will be allocated the official timetables."
The college reiterated its commitment to continue offering vocational education of the highest standard, which cater for the students' aspirations and the industry's needs.
The reports published by the PN media alleged that the government would be introducing a pilot-project which would reduce the number of students at the ICT institute in order to cut the allocated funds by 10%.
The Sunday newspaper Il-Mument reported that the government intended to introduce an "indirect numerus clausus to reduce the number of students and the stipends issued by government."
