In two years, 246 minors taken to Court
In the past two years, 185 boys and 61 girls were taken to court in Malta and Gozo.
A total of 246 minors were taken to court during 2011 and 2012, Home Affairs Minister Manuel Mallia said this evening.
Replying to a parliamentary question raised by Labour MP Justyne Caruana, Mallia said that in 2011, there were 130 minors who were taken to court, while in 2012 there were 116 minors.
The majority of cases took place in Malta in 2011, with 126 minors. During the same year, four minors were taken to court in Gozo. This figure rose to eight last year.
The information showed that the majority of the cases involved boys, with 108 cases in 2011 and 77 cases in 2012.
Girls taken to court marked 22 during 2011, rising to 39 the following year.
During 2011, no girls from Gozo were taken to court, while in 2012 there was one.
