Cloud of fine dust on its way

The satellite image taken some minutes ago (courtesy of Malta Airport MetOffice/Eumetsat), shows a cloud of fine dust is building up over the Mediterrean coming from the North African region and is moving towards the Maltese Islands.

A depression over the eastern Libyan Sea is moving eastwards, as an area of high pressure will extend from the western Mediterranean to northern Libya.

As already announced by the Malta Airport MetOffice, current east south easterly winds are strong at times over the Maltese Islands, Force 5 to 6 and it is expected that these become strong to very Strong Force 6 to 7.
