Government withdraws transfers at elderly home

Government withdraws transfers at St Vincent de Paul, Union Haddiema Maghqudin says.

A number of transfers at the St Vincent de Paul elderly home have been withdrawn following a meeting with Union Haddiema Maghqudin (UHM) representatives.

The union said that following a meeting with the Social Solidarity Ministry, a number of transfers which "were not transparent" were withdrawn while other workers were redeployed in alternative jobs to the benefit of the services provided.

The union reiterated its stance that a number of transfers were illogical, adding that "good will and common sense prevailed."

However the union noted that disagreement over a particular section of the Home and about a person transferred from a home for the elderly remained unresolved.

The UHM said that another meeting will be held in three weeks' time in which the two parties are also expected to discuss how transfers should be made, on the basis of transparency and meritocracy.

"However, UHM is confident that solutions will be found for the pending issues in the same manner as a solution over the number of workers was found," the union said.
