Substantial decrease in prison tuck shop prices welcomed
Reduction in prices of products sold at the Corradino Correctional Facility’s tuck shop vary between 2c and 90c.
Prisoners' rights organisation Mid-Dlam Ghad-Dawl (MDD) welcomed the government's decision to substantially reduce the prices at the prison tuck shop. The NGO said the sharp decline was one of the first initiatives which augur well in making the Corradino Prisons a truly correctional facility.
The reduction in prices had been one of the proposals made by MDD during the electoral campaign, chairperson George Busuttil said.
"We have long been lamenting over the exaggerated prices," he said. The difference in the prices ranges between 2c and 90c. By way of example, bottled water now costs 35c from 51c.

It is reported as an example a bottle of water was sold 51c now 35c. So it follows where did or who kept the other 16c?
