Commission for the vetting of PN candidates appointed

Nationalist Party leader Simon Busuttil has appointed former European Commissioner Joe Borg to head the commission for the vetting of candidates.

In a statement, the PN said the commission will revise the process of how PN candidates are chosen, as well as putting forward recommendations.

Commission members include Isabelle Vella, former minister Louis Deguara, Maria Cassar, lawyer Noel Buttigieg Scicluna and Saviour Sciberras.

Karol Aquilina is member ex officio, as president of the party's administrative council.

The commission will be establishing a set of qualities and competences which candidates running the elections on a PN ticket should have.

A preliminary report should be presented to the PN by the end of July.
