‘PN arrogance dates back to 2004’ – Frank Zammit
Former aide to John Dalli and Marsa ex-PN mayor, who served on the PN executive council for several years, speaks out about the internal clashes within the Party in recent years.
In a frank interview with Sunday newspaper 'Illum', Frank Zammit, the former aide who served as personal secretary to John Dalli when he was European Commissioner, says that the arrogance shown by the Nationalist Party in recent years started back in 2004.
"Soon after the huge electoral loss in the first MEP elections, there was a reluctance to discuss the reasons behind this negative result. At that time I served on the PN national executive, and the analysis of the loss was put in a meeting with a very long agenda. It seemed as if no one really wanted to give it much thought" Frank Zammit says.
He described John Dalli as one of the politicians who modernised Malta, seeking political consensus from the opposition on important legislation. "He solved problems which no one could ever imagine solving".
