Man arrested over Alps murder

French Police arrest victim's brother suspected to be responsible for the murder in the Alps.

Zaid al-Hilli, 54, living in Chessington, Surrey was arrested in connection with the murder of his brother Saad and three others.

Saad's wife Iqbal, her mother Suhaila al-Allaf and French cyclist Sylvain Mollier lost their life in the incident. The four were shot on 5 September in the French Alps.

Zaid had been spoken to by the police but had denied any connection with the deaths. However Annecy prosecutor Eric Maillaud told news agencies there are now enough reasons for his arrest. The suspect needs to come up with answers about his relation he had with his brother particularly over family inheritance.

After the shooting, French investigators searched the family's home in Claygate. The Surrey Police issued a call for public information to help trace a vehicle, which was seen at the crime scene back in September.
