Government renting equipment for media conferences from unnamed private companies
Prime Minister says government ‘at times’ rents equipment from private companies to be used during press conferences.
Since the government did not have all the necessary equipment used in the organisation of press conferences, it was necessary to rent out this equipment from private companies, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat informed parliament this evening.
Muscat was replying to a parliamentary question tabled by Nationalist MP Claudio Grech. Grech asked whether the government was renting equipment from private companies, which equipment would be used during media activities or press conferences organised by the Office of the Prime Minister.
"Just like the previous administration used to do, from time to time the government needs to rent some equipment," Muscat replied.
Neither the question nor the reply delved into the specifics of the cost of the renting of the equipment or who were the companies or private individuals which were providing this rental service to the government.
