Majority fails civil service examinations

Only 46.8% of those sitting for public service exam make the grade.

Over half of those who sat for the public service examinations failed to make the grade, Education Minister Evarist Bartolo told parliament.

Replying to parliamentary questions, Bartolo said 952 passes - out of 2,031 - were registered. Those who sat for the exam came from five different postsfrom within the civil service.

The majority of the 46.8% who passed held the post of Executive Officer. 799 sat for this exam and 435 passed.

118 made it through the exam for clerks, 155 in the grade of Assistant Principal, 118 as Principals while only 63 passed from the 237 that went for the grade of Senior Principal.
